10 Snoring Remedies

10. Medical Cures

  • Oral appliances. These are bedtime mouthpieces called Mandibular Advancement Devices (MAD) that are designed to hold your lower jaw and tongue slightly forward to keep your tongue from falling backwards which causes snoring. There are more than a few brands of oral devices offering unique benefits to make these anti-snoring remedies more effective and more comfortable for use. If you have dentures or gum problems, however, an oral device is not an ideal remedy for you. There are several brands out there such as ZQuiet and more.
  • Anti-snore and sleep apnea pillows. These especially designed pillows encourage you to sleep in a position that keeps your airways open. They come in different sizes, shapes, and features to accommodate any sleeping position. It should be noted that these are different to pillows such as the¬†sobakawa cloud pillow that are designed to specifically relieve¬†muscle ache as well as pain in the back or neck.
  • Anti-snoring chin straps. Like oral appliances, anti-snoring chin straps sometimes called jaw straps are designed to position your lower jaw forward and encourage free airflow through the back of the mouth and nose. They are meant to be worn around the head while you sleep. A popular example on the market is called my snoring solution.

  • Continuous Positive Airway Pressure or CPAP masks. A CPAP mask is a respiratory headgear that is connected to a CPAP machine. It has a flexible hose that directs a controlled stream of air into the respiratory system throughout your sleep. CPAP masks have straps that fit across the jaw and around the upper part of the head.
  • Surgery. If all else fails, and for very severe cases of snoring, surgery might be considered. There are several surgery choices you can choose from but basic procedures include Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) , Laser-assisted uvuloplatoplasty (LAUP), Platal stiffening operations (CAPSO), and Radio-frequency ablation (Somnoplasty). Surgical approaches to snoring, however, have risk factors that you should consider. Before resorting to invasive remedies, make sure you have already exhausted all other techniques to help you stop snoring.

It is important to take note that snoring can also be an indication of a more serious health condition such as sleep apnea. If your snoring problem persists after trying all natural anti-snore remedies, consult your doctor.
